Art therapy is not limited to children; it is a versatile and inclusive therapeutic approach that can benefit people of all ages. Art therapists are trained professionals who combine the therapeutic techniques of counseling with the creative process of art-making to help individuals express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and nonjudgmental environment.

This group is ideal for adults seeking stress relief, chronic pain management, communication skills practice, or emotional healing.

Facilitated by Paula Acheson, a Board-Certified Art Therapist who has been practicing for over 30 years, you will use music, movement, writing and traditional art making techniques. No prior artistic skill is required to experience the benefits of art therapy. Small groups provide peer support in addition to professional guidance.

The cost is $65 per session and materials are provided.

The goal of art therapy is not to create a masterpiece, but rather to facilitate the therapeutic process of self-expression and self-discovery. Altered Book Journaling Group for Adults

Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:30 starting June 4th-July 30th

Exploring the realm of altered books unveils a profound fusion of creativity and healing, offering a therapeutic journey like no other.

An altered book is more than just a canvas; it’s a sanctuary where old narratives intertwine with new artistic expressions. Through the careful selection of aged or outdated books, artists embark on a journey of reinvention, infusing each page with their unique vision and emotions. At the heart of altered books lies the essence of art therapy—a holistic approach to self-expression and healing.

Engaging in the process of transforming a book into art becomes a form of catharsis, providing a safe space for reflection and exploration.

Led by Kali Miller, LPC, ATR-P, our art therapy group offers a supportive environment where participants can delve into the world of altered books. From June 4th to July 30th, we’ll gather every Tuesday evening from 3:00-4:30 pm, delving into the therapeutic magic of artistic expression. The cost is $65 per session and materials are provided although you may find that adding personal items to your altered book enhances your one-of-a-kind creation.

Art Therapy Group for Teens & Tweens

Sundays from 12:00 – 1:30

In the vulnerable teen years, it’s easy to be overwhelmed. From school pressures to social media blitzes, teens are always ‘on.’ Their phone seems to be connected to them like the umbilical cord was when they were born. These experiences can leave your children feeling anxious, depressed, lost, or alone.

Facilitated by Paula Acheson, a Board-Certified Art Therapist who has been practicing for over 30 years, our art therapy group for teens uses music, movement, writing and drama to teach skills to manage difficult emotions and practice communication skills. Small groups provide peer support in addition to professional guidance.

Provide your teen with the opportunity to connect in creative ways while sharing their struggles. Participants will learn effective communication skills, how to manage emotions, and of course, self-expression and creativity.

The cost is $65 per session and materials are provided. Two groups are offered on alternating weeks. One for teens (14-16 years old) and one for tweens (11-13 years old).

Artistic skill is not required in order to experience the therapeutic benefits of expressive art making.
